Low Dropout Regulators

Catalyst Semiconductor, Inc. announces its CAT6217 and CAT6218 LDO regulators that source 150 mA and 300 mA output currents, respectively, in a small, five-lead, 1 mm profile SOT-23 package. They offer a low quiescent current combined with a low typical dropout voltage of 90 mV at a 150 mA load for the CAT6217, and 180 mV at a 300 mA load for the CAT6218. An external bypass capacitor reduces overall output noise, making the devices suitable for low noise applications. These LDO products are designed with a quick-start feature to ensure a fast turn-on time of less than 150 µs. They eliminate battery drain when not in use by entering a "zero" current shutdown mode. They also offer a low typical quiescent current of 55 µA and protection against short-circuit and thermal overload fault conditions.
