2.5 V HCMOS Oscillators SignificantlyReduce Noise Levels

Fox Electronics now offers its HCMOS XpressO oscillators with 2.5 V operation. Featuring a third order Delta Sigma Modulator (DSM) that offers significantly reduced noise levels, the oscillators are comparable to traditional bulk quartz and surface acoustic wave (SAW) oscillators at a lower cost. The noise-reducing DSM technology, combined with the series’ low noise architecture, enables the oscillators to offer significantly lower levels of jitter and phase noise, making them suited for applications including SONET, Ethernet, storage area network, broadband access, microprocessors/DSP/FPGA, industrial controllers, test and measurement equipment, fiber channel, wireless such as Bluetooth and WiMax and portable products that require low power usage. The oscillators operate at the same voltage as the silicon chips to which they are providing timing, resulting in less current and heat generation. In addition, the HCMOS versions highlight application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) for accurate performance, decreased cost and increased flexibility. The HCMOS XpressO oscillators feature a frequency range of 0.750 to 180.000 MHz, stabilities as tight as ±20 ppm and a frequency resolution to six decimal places.
