C-series ceramic resonators

Murata Electronics introduces the redesigned C-series (CSTCR-G-C, CSTCE-G-C and CSTCE-V-C) tight tolerance ceramic resonators for the automotive market. Murata’s resonators, suitable for Controller Area Network (CAN) bus or any automotive network bus that requires tight tolerance, are a smaller (CSTCR-G-C: 4.5 × 2.0 × 1.2 mm, CSTCE-G-C: 3.2 × 1.3 × 0.8 mm, CSTCE-V-C: 3.2 × 1.3 × 1 .0 mm), less expensive option when compared to their counterpart quartz crystal resonators. The compact C-series (4 MHz to 20 MHz) includes improvements in temperature characteristics and initial tolerance capabilities. Specifically, the resonators offer an initial tolerance of ±0.1%, temperature tolerance (-40C to +125C) of ±0.13% and aging tolerance of ±0.07%. The aging tolerance is based on 1000 hours at 85° C that simulates 10 years of aging. In addition, the aging tolerance includes the frequency shift caused by two times lead free reflow soldering to meet the total tolerance required by the customer. The total tolerance (initial + temperature + aging) available is ±0.3% or ±3000ppm.
